I certainly wasn’t expecting the next game from Sloclap, the developer responsible for martial arts games Absolver and Sifu, to be a soccer game, and yet here we are. As revealed during The Game Awards, Sloclap’s next project is a 5v5 online multiplayer soccer game called Rematch. The game relies on the precise hitbox tech and fluid movements developed in Absolver and Sifu to craft a high-action and strategic soccer experience.

The vibrant blue and orange colors, lack of fouls or off-sides, focus on acrobatic plays, vibrant goal explosions, and ability to pass the ball off the wall and ceiling give Rematch strong Rocket League vibes, and I’m all for that. The game features a little more structure than something like Rocket League–each team in Rematch has a set goalie, for example–but FIFA or EA FC this is not. An actor named Zachary Horwitz, who works under the screen name Zach Avery, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly defrauding investors of over $690 million. It’s not the first Ponzi scheme to have been identified in Hollywood, but it may be one of the biggest.

An affidavit by FBI agent John Verrastro, quoted by The Hollywood Reporter, details the crimes Horwitz has been accused of. With his company 1inMM Capital, Horwitz allegedly went to investors using fraudulent distribution agreements with large companies such as HBO and Netflix. Not only were the distribution deals non-existent, but the movie rights 1inMM Capital claimed to hold were also fraudulent.

When the company started defaulting on promissory notes, Horwitz allegedly passed the buck on to his supposed partners, manufacturing emails from HBO and Netflix that gave excuses such as an audit and a company restructuring.

Recall first came to light in May as part of the Copilot+ suite of tools for Snapdragon X Series laptops. It takes and stores an image of your screen “every few seconds,” the purpose being to make it easier (via the magic of AI) to find things you’d seen or been working on but have forgotten about: A funny tweet, a cool meme, or maybe that finance document you promised the boss you’d have finished yesterday.

Captured images are stored locally and aren’t shared with other users or used for targeted advertising, but even so it struck me (and an awful lot of other people) as an obviously bad idea. It got even worse when it came to light that the system was really not all that secure: It was just days before researchers reportedly figured out how to bypass Windows’ security to access the stored images.
